Carcassonne

In my haste to get this out, I forgot to mention that we stopped at Carcassonne on the way to Albi. The weather had been quite threatening, and in fact the weather report predicted rain throughout France (except in the South of course) for the entire time we would be traveling. But what can you do? We pressed on anyway and arrived at Carcassonne in time for lunch and under heavy skies.

Carcassonne is a medieval fortresss, completely walled and quite impressive when one first spots it from the road looming over the surrounding countryside. We didn't stay long--had lunch and tried to out-run the rain on to Albi.
